For sure you can do code for TYPO3 with any NotePad++ / Gedit / Textedit if you like. But if you want good code developed in an efficient and fast way, you will need a cool and supportive IDE. A lot of developers in the TYPO3 community rely on PhpStorm  for this purpose.
In my former post  I focused mainly on the issue to migrate existing DB calls from TYPO3-DB to Doctrine DBAL. This one is about writing tiny vanilla DB statements without any „special“ clauses. Only for these „Gimme everything from one table“ or „Just delete that one row“ situations.
